it might not come naturally.
seeds must be nurtured to grow.
there are things in life that may not come naturally to you. most likely most good things or qualities will not come naturally. these qualities that make you an invaluable human are traits that have to be nurtured in order to grow.
think of the most important person in your life. maybe a friend, mentor, family member, or spouse. when you say their name what words flood your mind. my guess is if they are that important to you then the initial words that enter your mind are probably high quality attributes.
i think the top 4 qualities one can have are:
diligence
kindness
truth
love
what qualities do you imagine come to mind when those closest to you think of your name. are they any of those 4 qualities i listed? are they all positive? are they detrimental?
the reason i bring this up is because being invaluable is a title we should all strive for. in the corporate world it is always the least valued people who are let go first. it would be nice if we were confident we were in the group of those who were valued.
this might sound slightly egotistical or “above” but why would we not all strive to be the best we can be.
when i say the group of those who were valued i want to be clear that this value is in Gods eyes. i could care less if a corporate CEO or CFO had me on their “valued list”. quite frankly God is the only one who can value any of us.
so why are these the most important qualities.
diligence is defined as persistent work or effort. being persistent at anything can separate you from the masses. being persistent and diligent means that regardless of outcomes, good or bad, you keep going. this can apply to exercise, relationships, or work. regardless of the realm - the importance of diligence is paramount. it will allow you to accomplish things you never thought you could while building a resilient character and spirit.
conveying kindness everyday will make your life better, tenfold. no matter what storm you are going through if you exude kindness to others, your storm won’t seem so bad. by taking the focus off ourself and allowing yourself to do things and be there for others can only benefit you.
they say that the truth will set you free. i guess this true itself because if you are always honest with yourself first and then others you can’t lose. you may “lose” in societies eyes as it may lead to a worldly failure but never to a failure in Gods eyes. culture can always tempt you to lie or cheat your way out of a situation or into something. but God will see your heart and if truth is always your choice - he will reward you. long term on earth you will be glad you were honest and long term in life after death, the Lord will bless you.
and love. how can you argue against this character trait. God showed and shows us perfect love. Jesus sacrificed himself on the cross because he loves us even if we don’t love him back. that is unconditional love. can you imagine laying down your life for someone who hates you, disagrees with everything you are. that is what God did. he died for a bunch of sinners. agree or disagree with someone, but love them. be there best friend or smile across the room. regardless show your love in hopes that others will see the love that God showed to you.
all of these traits are important. strive to write these on your heart. make them second nature. when someone else interacts with you or speaks to you let these traits define your actions and words. we are imperfect and will stumble over and over but work for these. struggle for these. water these seeds and watch it change your life.
be invaluable.
